Matthias De Beule presented his paper “Robust Gravity Modeling with Multiple Applications in Retail Network Management” (see picture below: from left to right: supervisor: Prof. Dr. Dirk Van den Poel, Matthias De Beule, co-supervisor: Prof. Dr. Nico Van de Weghe (Faculty of Sciences, Department of Geography Geomatics CartoGIS Cluster, not in the picture: Dr. Dieter Debels but also very much involved in the project, GeoIntelligence).

Next, Gert Loterman (see picture below, his supervisor: Prof. Dr. Geert Poels) presented an overview of his research about Modeling Loss Given Default (LGD).

Then, it was time for a break combined with a poster session. Andrey Volkov (in the middle of the picture, surrounded by other members of the Department of Marketing, UGent) presented his research “Incorporating predictors based on sequence analysis techniques in bankruptcy prediction modeling.”

We thank Annelies Van Hoeck (Department of Marketing) as well as Catharine De Kemel (Secretary, Dean’s office) for the practical organization. Next, Jeroen D’Haen presented his poster on Customer Acquisition using Webcrawling (co-authored with Prof. Dr. Dirk Van den Poel & Dr. Dirk Thorleuchter).
